10 miles: Last workout before race this weekend. I was excited for this one because I haven't done a lot of half marathon pace stuff and I wanted to see how the pace felt. I've done a lot of faster (5k pace) and marathon pace stuff lately. Anyway workout was 6 x 1200 w/400 jogs. Splits were 4:05,4:06,4:10,4:10,4:09,4:09. Kept jogs to two minutes. First two were too fast then I settled in to the correct pace. This was harder than I wanted it to be. Maybe I was just expecting too much. Good workout. Just need good weather this weekend.

Half-Marathon pace never feels easy!

You've had a great block of workouts in the past 1-2 months... trust in that, go out and deliver a PR!

Thanks Jake! After I read your recaps from last year I was pretty pumped. Then the run nerd in me came out and I looked at all your training leading in to the race and then after leading up to Philly. Interesting stuff. I'm looking forward to see how you do with the some lower mileage/higher quality stuff.

Its kind of funny to look back at the training last fall - nothing I did in workouts would have predicted 1:05:45 (but it happened!), and everything was pointing towards sub 2:20, and I didn't even come close. Goes to show what a tricky beast the marathon is. I'm still not 100% sure how I pulled off two sub 66s last fall, but I need to find a little of that magic and do it again!

The advice I'll give you about the LGB course is to just know that you have to stay super-focused on that out&back section along the beach once you get past 10K. There are no spectators, and its an easy place to let the pace slip. Stay focused there and you'll run a great time.

Nice last workout! Hoping for great weather for you on Sunday!
